Seagrass Below Grebe

‘Seagrass Below Grebe’

Acrylic on canvas

Framed: 73.5 cm (W) x 103.5 cm (H)

During the spring and summer months, Grebe beach is a place I return to almost daily - whether walking the coastal path or dropping anchor nearby. Tucked along the Helford coastline, it holds a quiet magic that reveals itself slowly.

This painting was born from balmy afternoons, when the sun sits high and the water turns to glass, a lens drawing the eye down into the seagrass meadows under the surface. There is something endlessly captivating about that hidden world, only discoverable when you pop on a snorkel (or hold your breath!) and dive beneath you.

Greens and aquas merge with warm ambers and flickers of lilac, evoking the movement of the seagrass as it stirs with the current.

'Seagrass Below Grebe' is an invitation to look closer - at the water, at the world beneath it, and at the wonder that waits in the familiar places we keep returning to.
