I’ve spent a lifetime drawn to the sea - from sailing along the Cornish coastline where I live, through the Mediterranean, across the Atlantic, and to Pacific shores.
These journeys have shaped how I view the world, and they’ve transformed how I see colour, light, and movement.
In the quiet moments on anchor, watches spent in solitude, and in those brief minutes before a big passage gets underway - when the land begins to fade into the distance - encapsulating a suspended feeling between motion and pause.
My work seeks to capture these feelings: that expansive stillness you experience when you’re looking over the edge of a boat into the sea. There’s a meditative quality to those moments, and it’s that rhythm that I try to express in my paintings.
