Anchored in August

£625.00

Acrylic on canvas

Framed: 46cm (W) x 56 cm (H)

There's a feeling that comes at the end of August that's hard to name. The days are still warm, the sun still strong, but something in the light has shifted. You can feel summer starting to let go, and you find yourself wanting to hold on to it just a little longer.

This painting is about that feeling. A late afternoon on anchor, friends aboard, the conversation in flow. The water dappled with light and shadow beneath the boat.

You can feel in the warm late-afternoon air, that this is one of the last moments like this. That soon the boats will come out of the water, the evenings will close in, and this particular kind of afternoon will have to wait another year.
